Essentially with Fred, you will get nearly three men in one. Firstly Fred is an able Project Manager, secondly he is a skilled shaper and operator of heavy plant, thirdly he is more than capable of operating and overseeing the fine cultivation equipment in order to provide a high level of finish required prior to seeding/turfing. Fred is confident in working to detailed drawing plans and specifications provided by others.
Fred also has experience in running/ accepting and compacting imported waste materials for golf course construction.
Please find below a typical brief of duties that Fred has undertaken as Project Manager for our company on previous projects.
Project Manager Brief
- Develop schedules with the client and provide input for the implementation of the design plans
- Establish haul routes for all materials, tipping areas and control the import of materials onto site, delivery notes etc for collation and submission to the client
- Provide advice during the work and inspect/coordinate the various sub-contractors and operations on site to ensure they follow the design plans
- Setting out of the whole golf course included greens, tees and fairway doglegs and all associated earthworks levels
- Advise on the excavation and movement of the materials on site and controlling on this task on a day-today basis control sub-contract machine operators and dumpers
- Carry out any machine work as is required working on heavy plant (360 excavator 15 tonne with shaping adaptations)
- Control sub-contractors as to the correct methods for construction during earthworks to ensure compaction rates are correct for all constructed areas in accordance with the specifications
- Advise and control the quality of materials used on site and coordinate the correct sampling and labelling and sending to laboratories for later interpretation by the appointed agronomists
- Control and carry out all the shaping on site to ensure that design intentions are maintained and that where possible enhanced
- Keep a tight control of any hired labour and machinery to ensure that their best efforts are produced on site at all times and they are off-hired at the earliest possible opportunity
- Oversee/carry out the drainage installation on the site including the formation of surface water swales and underground drainage including piped system and gulley pot systems as required.
- Control and coordinate of the day-to-day installation of the irrigation system following the advice and specifications from the irrigation consultant
- Advise during final development of tee boxes, greens and bunkers to ensure that they are technically and aesthetically correct for example installation/checking of drain trenches before placing pipes and gravel, placement of gravel blankets and seed bed preparation and adjustments to levels and bunkers to improve vision and impact etc.
- Place and shape/grade the drainage blanket on all greens.
Arrange and oversee the delivery of mixed rootzone or carry out the mixing of rootzone on site - Place and shape grade the rootzone on greens and tees
- Provide direction for the creation of any lakes and other water features and coordination of the excavation of these and the controlled usage of suitable excavated material for the construction of the golf course features
- Provide advise and guidance during the preparation of the course for seeding including that of topsoil re-spread on fairways, rootzone depth uniformity on greens and tees
- Advise and coordination the placement of sand within the bunkers
- Advise and coordinate the commissioning of the irrigation system
